Verses and Quotes About Faith
For just as the [human] body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works [of obedience] is also dead. James 2:26 Amplified Bible
The very moment you separate body and spirit, you end up with a corpse. Separate faith and works and you get the same thing: a corpse. James 2:26 The Message
So, faith without works is dead. James 2:26 New Kings James Version
“Faith without action is delusion. Faith does not wait for miracles but produces them. If you think you can or if you think you can’t, you are right.” Henry Ford
“You are what you do, not what you say you’ll do.” TobyMac
Definitions of Faith
Definitions of faith according to Merriam Webster Dictionary:
Faith (noun): belief and trust in and loyalty to God; firm belief in something for which there is no proof
Faith (verb – archaic): believe; trust
Although Merriam Webster agreed faith is a verb, the dictionary said it’s an archaic one. Obviously the writers of the Bible disagree.
Faith In Action
Hebrews 11 shows off faith-filled stories including a long list of faithful servants like Abraham, Noah, and Moses as well as actions that happened by faith like Jericho’s walls falling and the Red Sea parting.
Last evening I went to see Prophet Jim Reilly who travels and speaks on behalf of God. He said about faith, “Our western mindset is intellectual. We try to figure out things, but faith is about doing.”
“The most important thing we can do is please God, and it is impossible to please Him if our faith is without corresponding action.”
Jim told story after story about people who “took a word from God and put feet (obedience) on it.”
He named Heidi Baker and her ministry that feeds 15,000 children a day. She raised 1 million dollars in one evening when she passed a basket – unheard of except Jesus blessed her faith and her feet.
He talked about a 68-year-old woman just up the road who heard God say, “Feed the poor.” She approached her church for help, as well as a big box store for food. They deliver a palette every day. Her church is filled with food that she distributes daily. Together they are walking out their faith.
Jim also shared the philanthropic work done by Chick-fil-A’s president and CEO Daniel Truett Cathy.
Our pastor recently said, “I’m begging you, please, please, please do something for somebody.” And for us older folks who are tired, he said, “Remember, retirement isn’t in the Bible. Refirement is, though.”
Does anyone else feel as convicted as I do right about now? This is our challenge, to put feet to our faith.
In This Together,
Kim
