“It’s never too late to say this isn’t how the story is going to end.” Unknown

Had I believed and lived by these truths, life would have been sweeter and gentler and more meaningful. And simpler.

I’m grateful to know them now and happy to share them with you.

The first truth …

C.S. Lewis’ quote describes our dilemma, “Human history is the long terrible story of man trying to find something other than God which will make him happy.”

I promise you (from years of searching and not finding) that a six-figure career will not make you happy without Jesus. Neither will an oceanfront home, a filled up six-car garage, nor well-rounded, beautiful children and grandchildren.

Neither will airing a popular podcast, earning multiple degrees, having our project hit a bestseller list.

Not awards, attention, nor admiration … not without Jesus.

Nothing satisfies us except Him. Nothing settles us except Him. Nothing saves us except Him.

The second truth …

Our purpose is to love God and love people. We first pursue a relationship with Him, and then love others so they’ll want to do the same.

If we’re living our purpose, every sales clerk, writer, and engineer is a pastor. Every real estate agent, teacher, and contractor is a pastor. Every nurse, project manager, and stay-at-home mom is a pastor.

The third truth …

We’re not human beings having spiritual experiences every once in awhile.

We are spiritual beings having occasional human experiences.

My pastor said, “If we believe this, it’ll change the way we live.”

And that’ll change the world.

I’d love for my children and their children and my friends and family to live by these truths because they make for a sweeter, gentler, more meaningful life, and simpler too.

What do you think?

In This Together,
Kim
