“You have to lift your head up out of the mud and just do it.” Actress Teri Garr

After I broke my knee in 2004, I promised myself I would never again describe my life as stuck.

As a result of the injury, it was two months before I could drive, sleep comfortably, or keep much food on my stomach. I guess the memories of being trapped in a cast fade.

In spite of my promise, I digressed again to that stuck place.

I’m stuck. I’m stuck. I’m stuck.

There, I said it. It’s in the open.

Sometimes observing what we don’t want brings into focus what we do want.

I want to laugh until I cry, and run through fields of daisies like in romantic movies, then cry until I laugh. I want to float in a pool for half the summer, thinking about characters and chapters.

I want to submit heartwarming and funny blog posts, and to write a book that changes at least one life.

I want to believe publishers, readers and ideas are plentiful, and so are friends, joy and playing Cranium around the kitchen table with my husband and kids.

Writer Jeff Goins and entrepreneurs/authors Seth Godin and Chris Guillebeau blog frequently about how to get the results we want – ship it.

I had to laugh when a friend unknowingly posted over and over (because of a Facebook glitch) a response to getting what we want. Her five posts read like an obsessed Nike commercial.

Just do it!
Just do it!
Just do it!
Just do it!
Just do it!

I needed to read those words about a dozen more times.

And during today’s meditation time in class, our Pilates’ instructor read a similar solution to realizing dreams. If there is something we want, practice it.

Doing unsticks us.

So, what action is waiting for you?

WRite wHere I’m supposed to be – Writing and rewriting this short post took hours, but I’m breathing easier than when it was only a blank page.

I have something for you!
